Frequently used procedure codes by the physical therapy profession include:
- Initial Evaluation: 97161, 97162, 97163 (your individual presentation determines the code that is used)
- Re-evaluation: 97164
- Therapeutic Exercise: 97110 (stretching and strengthening exercises, this procedure is time dependent and billed 1 unit per every 15 minutes you spend doing this activity in the office)
- Neuromuscular re-education: 97112 (balance and coordination exercises, this procedure is time dependent and billed 1 unit per every 15 minutes you spend doing this activity in the office)
- Therapeutic Activity: 97530 (exercises with a goal to improve functional movement like stair climbing, squatting, picking up objects from the floor, this procedure is time dependent and billed 1 unit per every 15 minutes you spend doing this activity in the office)
- Manual Therapy: 97140 (hands on work by your physical therapist, this procedure is time dependent and billed 1 unit per every 15 minutes you spend doing this activity)
- Ultrasound: 97035
- Vasopneumatic compression (game ready machine): 97016
- Electrical stimulation: 97014
A typical physical therapy appointment will include between 4 and 6 procedure codes based on the activity that occurs during your session. Valens Physical Therapy is in network with most insurance companies. We are paid a contracted rate based on our relationship with the insurance company. The amount you pay per visit depends on your contract with that same company. This payment will be based on your deductible for the year followed by either a copayment or co-insurance depending on your individual plan.
